Summary: Godzilla, in his later years, could never fight the good fight alone, so he needed a good sidekick and friend to help him out. Eventually, out of all the kaiju to come his way, Anguirus proved to be the most loyal companion of his. Just don't tell the poor sap that Big G might have had a hand in killing his predecessor...
History: The first Anguirus was documented fighting the 1954 Godzilla's successor on Iwato Island. Anguirus, a cretaceous relative of the Ankylosaurus, was described as being the only creature that could stand up to Godzilla's kind during those times. But you would never know, considering how well their modern scuffle turned out (see Final Fate). However, at some point in the future, a second Anguirus was discovered and placed on the recently founded Monster Island. Godzilla, having mellowed out since the 50s, became fast friends with him, and since them Angy has stood beside the monster king, no matter how daunting the odds.
Notable Kills: None.
Final Fate: The first Anguirus got a chunk of its neck ripped out by Godzilla's teeth, and then got blasted by his atomic breath for good measure. The next one is just fine and living the high life on Monster Island, albeit with a slightly numb jaw after his encounter with Mechagodzilla.
Powers/Abilities: Anguirus, compared to his fellow kaiju, is rather plain. Even his burrowing ability seems a little outclassed by Baragon and Gorosaurus. Still, his spiky carapace provides good protection. He can even thrust himself backwards and ram enemies with it. Also, he's impervious to human weaponry.
Weakness: Another Kaiju, particularly the more brutish kind. Gigan and Mechagodzilla saw to that.
Scariness Factor: 4-Like any other kaiju, Anguirus is very destructive when in public. However, he's not seen very often in those scenarios, so he's one of the least of society's kaiju worries.
Trivia: -The largest Ankylosaurid ever discovered was (what else?) Ankylosaurus (Fused Lizard).
-"Angilas" was the original name, but it didn't officially become "Anguirus" in Japan until the mid 1990s.
